Opodo is an online travel agency that mainly offers flights at the best price. The Oscar’s event was so close, so they were looking for a special piece to link the brand with the cinema. Starting from the common point between travel and cinema: 5 famous cities on the big screen and principal touristic destinations. Cities in 8 mm gives name to an online guide that promotes travelling through the cinema.
This guide discovers the famous locations from cities like Rome, Paris, New York, Los Angeles y Mumbai through the scenes of different films. Also offering information to the user about their location on the city map, hotels where host also famous on the cinema or the best season for visiting that destination.
My rol in this project consisted in stablish an art direction, look & feel and design for this “guide”. Defining an aesthetic wih cinema elements, applied in the guide made microsite and different pieces to promote it in social media.
Every movie element works to suggest or support an interaction. So the clapperboard closes once you choose a city at homepage, and movie icons in roll overs indicates and plays with more information for the user.
The movie tape was the perfect element to play with, suggesting the content of this guide trough the logo. For the rest of the elements of the page I chose an actual an minimal style: black and white, also simple and universal icons and elements from the cinema world.
